Long time no see...久しぶり!

Long time no see! A lot has happened in the past few months so I neglected this blog a bit...But on the plus side my crafting output increased (。・ω・。) Its complimentary to my therapy and I would recommend it to anyone with restrictive health issues or even if there's a lot on your mind. I've been getting better recently but its still a slippery slope. Here's to holding on.

But more about the crafting...Since my last update I've been working on a 2 scrapbooks, countless cards, upcycling some furniture and designed my own basket-themed Easter/Mother's Day gift bags/cards.

First off my chest of drawers. I was in desperate need of a new set since I had no room in my olds one and they also broke so I didn't really have a choice. The charity shop I make cards for luckily had some and I got them at a discount :)

First they were washed and sanded down till smooth.
To make sure the wallpaper I wanted would stick it was important to sand it down first, it also meant the coat of paint would be mostly streak/lump free. I'm surprised there was any paint left since mroe of it ends up on me than the thing I'm decorating. Using border adhesive I attached the paper - I went for VW buses because I loved the colours and I'm a fan of them. It was tricky getting the pattern to match, in future I think I'll stick to more medium sized one. Nevertheless I was proud of it when it was finished (。・ω・。)
The finished article.
I don't have many pictures of cards I've made...I did design these ones by myself. The cat was royalty free clip art, the rest I did in photoshop iincluding the sentiments. They all sold (which surprised me!) so I should make some more soon.

Meow.
Speaking of kitties, my little Princess passed away at the end of January. She was my best friend and I miss her every day...but we still have Tilly to distract us and our two dogs. Our hands are full...Princess was too old to play but Tilly loves it. I stitched up a little mouse for her out of felt and she hasn't looked near me since.

Tilly's handmade victim.
In honour of Princess, I've started another scrapbook. So far there's only been two pages but it's turning out OK. I ordered a bunch of stuff from Kaisercraft last night (their new Furry Friends collection is way too cute) so I can spend some time archiving her grumpy face.

That's it. Its Mother's Day on Sunday so I'm going to attempt to make a card so we'll see how that goes (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧

My friend Crafty Patata put up a trade post and here's my some of my stash for you that I don't think I'll use or don't use too much at the moment (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧

Kitschy Kitsune

I recently stepped into foreign territory and decided to try Distress Inks. I had seen a lot of crafters using them on TV but had no idea how to go about it myself. After watching No Stress Distress Inks on Youtube it didn't look half as intimidating as I thought it was. I would recommend these tutorial videos to anyone who's not sure about inks. I know I wasn't - in fact I was scared of stamping point blank. The above photo is proof that anyone can do it - with a little help from the Purrfect Love Decoupage and Diecut pack from Gorjuss.

Welcome

Hi. My name is Anna and this my crafting blog 'Junk Story'.

I'm only a crafting beginner but I've found it to help me in my journey to recovery from my illnesses. It's easy to get caught up in the negatives but when making something I find myself more relaxed. If someone else happens to like it then it is just an added bonus.

Another important factor in my blog is being thrifty. I don't like spending a lot of money when there could be a cheaper alternative. I want to explore crafting on a limited budget - you don't need the expensive brands to make something beautiful.

Adios (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧
